Centromere diversity across eukaryotes
Speciation through centromere evolution
Centromere-kinetochore coevolution
Evolving new species in the lab
Synthetic chromosomes
The lab investigates how centromeres and chromosomes evolve, diversify, and function across the eukaryotic tree of life. To this end, we bridge cell biology, evolutionary genomics, and synthetic biology to map centromere diversity across eukaryotes, build synthetic chromosomes to empirically test centromere function and compatibility, and to explore how centromere evolution contributes to speciation.
Come meet us at conferences! The lab will be represented at:
Centrosomes: From fundamentals to diseases, Lausanne (CH), 1-4 September 2026
Cell La Vie, Paris (FR), 21-23 October 2026
